From the Temptations in 1964 to BTS, from the Spice Girls to Blackpink, all the way to Huntr/x, the virtual band born from a Netflix animated film in 2024. At the top of everything, One Direction: six billion songs as a group, eleven as solo artists — the defining case of this volume and perhaps of the entire history of boy bands. But there's more: an analysis of the "solo streams" — the billion songs that former members produced as solo artists, often surpassing the numbers of the group itself — and a look at who's still missing: the notable absentees like Little Mix, the most credible candidates to enter the club in 2026, and the bands that could surprise in the years ahead. Boy/Girl Bands and the Billion Songs Barry Gibb (vocals, guitar), Robin Gibb (vocals), Maurice Gibb (vocals, keyboards, bass). Lineup Changes In 1969, Robin brie y left the group to pursue a solo career but rejoined in 1970. Maurice passed away on January 12, 2003. Robin passed away on May 20, 2012. Since then, Barry has been the sole survivor, occasionally keeping the band's legacy alive. Activity 1958 2012. The group is no longer active in its original lineup. Editorial Note In 1977, Stayin' Alive was the de nitive soundtrack of an era  de ned by Saturday Night Fever, discotheques, and white suits. In 2025, it remains a powerhouse with over a billion streams. How Deep Is Your Love stems from the exact same year and album, and it has traveled the exact same path. Certain tracks simply do not age. They shed their skin, and each new generation discovers them as if they were brand new. Next Billion Track? The Bee Gees currently have two songs sitting above 500 million streams on Spotify: More Than a Woman at 850 million and Night Fever at over 660 million. It is therefore highly probable that the former will cross the billion threshold within a year.
