From the Temptations in 1964 to BTS, from the Spice Girls to Blackpink, all the way to Huntr/x, the virtual band born from a Netflix animated film in 2024. At the top of everything, One Direction: six billion songs as a group, eleven as solo artists — the defining case of this volume and perhaps of the entire history of boy bands. But there's more: an analysis of the "solo streams" — the billion songs that former members produced as solo artists, often surpassing the numbers of the group itself — and a look at who's still missing: the notable absentees like Little Mix, the most credible candidates to enter the club in 2026, and the bands that could surprise in the years ahead. Lineup Changes In May 1998, Geri Halliwell left the group due to personal reasons. The remaining four members continued until their split in 2000. A full reunion occurred in 2007 2008, followed by a stadium tour in 2019 as a quartet without Victoria Beckham. Activity 1994 2000. Reunions in 2007 2008 and 2019. There is no current activity as a group. Editorial Note In 1996, Wannabe was a statement. Five girls with stage personae, explosive energy, and an attitude that no male boy band had ever replicated. The Spice Girls pioneered an aesthetic   Girl Power   that left an indelible mark on female pop music for the next twenty years. They may only have one billion stream track, but their cultural footprint reaches far wider than what data can capture. And nearly thirty years later, Wannabe remains one of the most instantly recognizable tracks on Earth: the  rst two notes are all it takes. Next Billion Track? At present, it is di cult to envision a second billion track for the Spice Girls. Their second most popular song, Say You'll Be There, sits at just under 200 million streams.
