From the Temptations in 1964 to BTS, from the Spice Girls to Blackpink, all the way to Huntr/x, the virtual band born from a Netflix animated film in 2024. At the top of everything, One Direction: six billion songs as a group, eleven as solo artists — the defining case of this volume and perhaps of the entire history of boy bands. Band Origins Formed in 2009 through mass auditions organized across the UK and Ireland by the label Gut Records. Five guys were selected out of thousands of hopefuls with the explicit goal of engineering a premium boy band for the European market. They signed with Island Records and made their o cial debut in 2010. Members (Classic Lineup) Tom Parker, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes. 76 

Track 8 - The Band's Profiles Lineup Changes The group originally split in 2014 to allow the members to explore solo paths. They o cially reunited in 2022 as a massive show of support for Tom Parker, who had been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor in 2020. Parker tragically passed away on March 30, 2022, just months after the reunion. The group continues to move forward as a quartet in his memory. Activity 2009 2014. Reunion in 2022. Active as a quartet since 2022. Editorial Note The Wanted possess what is undeniably the most moving and heartbreaking story in this book. Glad You Came earned its way into the Billion Club alongside many other de ning 2010s pop anthems. However, their 2022 reunion organized while Tom Parker was  ghting his  nal battle against brain cancer transformed that song into something far grander than a simple pop track. It became music as an act of pure love between friends, a collective embrace. It s a billion streams that carry a profound emotional weight that raw data alone could never fully articulate. Next Billion Track? There are no further billion stream tracks projected for The Wanted.
