The teacher’s position
The teacher sits with his instrument a little to the right of the child.
If he or she sits in front, the child may get confused between upbows and downbows. Not desperate. Soon the child will understand.

Parents must be where the child cannot see them. They should only speak if asked to by the teacher; he or she should record or note down what is said and may ask for an explanation if there is something he or she does not understand.
