Careful! The heel must be on the ground and the hip lifted slightly (the right chair must be used).
Holding the cello with his fingertips, the child moves it in front of him and then to the side. The pelvis and feet keep perfectly still. The pupil picks the cello up by the purfling with the fingertips of both hands. This is like holding the bow firmly or closing the fingers round the neck, and strengthens the movement of the tips of the fingers.
For prudence it is better to make this exercise being on a carpet, in the case unintentionally the cello slips from the hands.
