Way one
The teacher holds the child’s bow high up, and gets him to hang from it in the same way as an orang utang hangs from a branch. The fingers must be slightly widened.
This exercise shows how the weight of the arm falls naturally on the bow when it is placed on the strings. The wrist must not be too low.

Way two (the fingers “on the balcony”)
The tip of the little finger and the joints of the index, middle and ring fingers are on the stick. The fingers are on the stick and the tip of the thumb is under the frog. “On the balcony” means that the fingers are standing watching, or are on the stick, but they do not touch the frog.

Third way
The limp hand (dead hand). This is rather like putting on or taking off a glove.
The teacher helps the child to get his hand in the right position.
