Bow here and there
The bow is held with both hands to do “here and there”.
Using both hands ensures that the forearm moves in the right way and the bow is kept parallel.

The river and the longboat (the bow)
The longboat makes its way up the centre of the river, not along the bank.
Sometimes you can see two long boats going up the river together, try to do this with two bows (thumb underneath of course).
The bow is like a longboat loaded with sand or coal, which is sometimes so full in the middle that the water practically comes over the sides: the child’s bow is very heavy as well, and produces a loud and powerful sound – so much so that the hair almost touches the stick. The loaded longboat goes very slowly.
