The “pic” (or the bow thumb)
There are two kinds of “pic”:
- with the “fingers on the balcony” (in the small children’s position), the bow thumb is relaxed under the frog;
- with the fingers in the older children’s position, the thumb bent slightly, diagonally, with the corner of the nail between the peak on the frog and the stick.
The second finger that touches the nut peeps out. Try the “windscreen wiper” exercise to check if this is so.
It is said that the middle finger should sit right on the nut, but I think it should be a little further ahead.
Ciao ciao
The 2nd and 3rd fingers lift up and tap the frog.
This is done to make sure that they are not leaning on the tip: they must be right against the frog – in a strong position.
