If the child cannot get a good tunnel

The bow upside down is put on one of the pegs (see the photo) and the child is asked to practise “ the family at table”.

Playing “twinkle twinkle” pizzicato

  1. The bow is gripped with the fingers closed.
  2. The thumb is on the fingerboard to one side.

The bow is held with the index finger, and the string is plucked with the middle and ring fingers, by almost pulling the string.

The X

This is a good method for learning to place one finger on each string. Care should be taken when changing strings (string I, string IV) not to move the elbow. X should be studied up to the 4th position, descending semitone by semitone, and ascending again.
