Parents Parents have a great responsibility, and that is not to waste the time when children are well disposed, active and able to learn. They must be aware that any child can play an instrument up to a certain level. This is not a question of talent, but of both a stimulating environment and good programming. I have thought a lot about how I could make this book easy to understand not only for teachers but, above all parents, who often cannot read music. I came to the conclusion that only photographs could simplify and makes things clearer than drawings. But even the photographs may not suffice, so I have included notes with them. I then thought it would be a good idea to add subtitles in English, as the Suzuki method is better known abroad than it is here in Italy, and in the courses that are held in other countries very few people understand and read Italian, (obviously in English the descriptive words or phrases for an exercise may either not mean very much or mean nothing at all). I think that the phrases and words that I have used to simplify exercises are particularly effective; other teachers can of course use different ones that they may find more suitable, but the meaning should not change of course. This is an excellent working method and is a potential for continuous progress in teaching.
