INFORMATION PROMOTIONAL From the Via Alta to the future: The sustainable elegance of Vie d Alt 110 years of family, wine, and vision in the hills of Prepotto Maniago © Massimo Crivellari and tastings, offering an authentic experience of wine and food tourism. Among the most interesting stops is Bessich Wines in Roveredo in Piano (PN), where visitors can explore local grape varieties and taste wines that express the identity of the Friulian plain. In the heart of the Magredi lies Borgo delle Mele in Pinzano al Tagliamento (PN), a farm immersed in nature that offers experiences related to fruit growing, along with tastings of its products, often accompanied by convivial moments outdoors. Another noteworthy destination is Borgo delle Oche in Valvasone Arzene (PN), a winery that combines tradition and innovation in wine production and welcomes enthusiasts for guided tours and tastings among the vineyards of the Pordenone plain. The itinerary also includes dining venues where local products take center stage, such as Al Gallo in Pordenone and the wine bistro Al Bassotto in Codroipo (UD), ideal places to discover regional cuisine paired with carefully selected local wines. Water landscapes and rural traditions Beyond its food and wine heritage, Along Our River is also a journey through landscapes. The Tagliamento often described as one of the last relatively natural Alpine rivers creates wide gravel 98 beds and striking scenery. Surrounding it are lowland woods, cultivated fields, and small historic villages where rural architecture tells centuries of farming life. The presence of springs and river areas has deeply influenced local agriculture, giving rise to a diverse production that ranges from wine to fruit, from cured meats to cheeses, and to the typical specialties of western Friuli. Visiting this itinerary means experiencing the land in a slow and mindful way: walking through vineyards, entering wineries, and listening to the stories of those who produce wine and food with passion. It is an invitation to discover Friuli Venezia Giulia through its most authentic flavors, but also through the people who preserve and enhance this heritage every day. Between tastings, river landscapes, and encounters with producers, Along Our River represents one of the most authentic experiences of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Wine and Food Route: an itinerary where taste becomes the guiding thread to explore a land rich in history, nature, and traditions. Today, Vie d Alt celebrates 110 years of activity, an important milestone that tells not only the evolution of a winery, but also its ability to renew itself while remaining true to its roots It was December 1915 when Antonio Venica purchased the first hectare of vineyard, named Vie d Alt a name destined to become both identity and symbol. That plot, still at the heart of the estate today, overlooks the surrounding valley and marks the starting point of a journey that has spanned four generations. From a simple frasca to a stable, and later to the gradual expansion of the vineyards, the estate has grown step by step, always under family management. After Antonio, his son Elio carried the business forward, followed by Bruno, who in the 1990s marked a decisive turning point by focusing firmly on wine production. The construction of a new winery in 1996 and the opening of a space dedicated to direct sales and tastings in 2009 were key milestones in the company s development. 99
