THE ITALIAN SOUNDING

With Andrea, we let ourselves be taken by the comparison with the development of projects by French entrepreneurship, which has always been ahead of Italy. L’appellation d’origine (the DOC of French wine, to understand) in France was established in 1935, and the INAO (l'Institut National de l'Origine et de la Qualité des produits) was born in 1947.

In Italy, Paolo Desana obtained approval of the DOC law in 1963. He understood that the related metabolization process would take time, and only in 1979 did he think it was the right time to create an institution similar to the French INAO; it would have had to manage quality brands, establish strict production rules, and supervise controls to ensure authenticity for consumers. We are talking about “Italian-sounding” products, so not just wine but many others (do you know “Parmesan”?) whose origin and quality are not guaranteed. No, they are not, because another 46 years have passed, and the institute Paolo Desana had in mind still does not exist; Andrea does not want to give up, but we perceived a certain disillusionment in his words regarding the possibility of seeing it come to light in the short term.
